Contribute to our Work
The South Downs Society is a registered charity which does not receive any money from local or national government - this means that we are able to act independently.
The Society relies entirely upon the support and generosity of its members and benefactors. Every contribution is needed and much appreciated and helps us to protect the Downs and make them more easily accessible to local people.
There are a number of ways you can make a contribution:
Become a Volunteer
The South Downs Society is owned and run by its members and there are many ways in which you can help. We need people with a wide range of professional skills, such as planning, conservation and law, to help us monitor planning applications effecting the Downs and knowledgeable local volunteers able to look out for threats to paths and bridleways and take action.
The Society also needs good walks leaders with local knowledge of the Downs to help research and lead our annual programme of over 200 walks and strolls and people who are good at organising events. If you would like to become an active volunteer, contact us today:
